2024 Seating Changes

I gave my observations on the pictures and my experience in the 300 level. No one can truly know and I suppose and everyone experience is different of late.

Have you sat in the actual installed ones too? In the stadium? With those in front and behind? With other peeps and had to get up and let others by?

I saw those pictures, and know the areas. I think it is crap. Regardless I am going to engage my rep to get there and sit in them as I said previous. But can you say you have if they haven't even installed them and seen the forward or behind either. Can you? I know they will take more space. To think that they wont is ridiculous. To see other peeps that can hop up on benches to allow others nearby that now cannot going forward... Sorry can only flip up my seat is going to be an issue.

It is nothing more than replacing seatbacks with new revenue without people buying seatbacks, but have even less space and are not sitting on and airline in the 300 section. That was my point.

Trial seats is one thing. Experiencing it is another.
Don’t understand the “less space” comment. They are wider. The seat does fold up so you can use that and stand a bit further back to let people get by. The distance from your back to the back of the person in front of you is roughly the same. A little bit more if you had the cushioned chair backs, a little less if you are in the third tier with no backrest at all. But even in that case, you are protected from the guy behind you with his knees in your back and the guy in front of you sitting way back with his head in your lap.
For those of us who have been to multiple away college venues these seats will rank favorable with standard seating in most campus venues. And as a 6’3” old man who sits in the third deck for football, I can’t wait.

Yeah, but they are not Orange!
And they don't have cupholders!
And the footrests aren't cushioned!
And the massage function only has two speeds!
I want ball holders. What section are they in?

Figures... and instead of a 2 page article it is now 1 paragraph... typical reporting in Syracuse. And, imo another Syr.edu failure for communications.

I have lost count as to how many college football stadiums I have gone to watch SU football and none of them had individual seats.

Penn State was by far the worst with benches that had maybe 15 inches of seating space.

For once we should all be happy that we are able to watch Cuse football in a climate controlled domed stadium with individual seats. Instead in typical CNY fashion people find a reason to complain about the color of the seats, size of the seats, and lack of cup holders.

SU gave up revenue for 7000 seats to make their fans more comfortable. Now it’s time to fill the dome instead of picking apples in September.

looking at the design of the seats you would think you could fit a cupholder of some size off the back edge that wouldnt get in the way of much.. Might last a few games before it gets broken off though.

Or hang a cup holder off the seat back in front of you
which is the photo i posted.. thats what that cupholder clip is 4..

I wonder if I could sneak in a drill and a screw to add a hanger to my new seat in front of me.

Think your chances are better to buy an extra seat next to you and hire a teenager to come to games and hold your beer.

Mounting cup holders on the back of the chair in front of your chair is a total non starter.

That would dramatically reduce the limited room available to get to and from your seat. And tear up a lot of people’s knees.

The cup holders that was considered were mounted to the same rail the chairs are. They would have gone between each seat.

Hence the additional reduction in seats if they were used.

Considering that they've concurrently re-priced the building, it's unlikely that they've given up any revenue.

I like it

We just need isle monitors

you get one bathroom break a game and food breaks only during 2 min warning and half time
And if you are found to be in the wrong seat (not because of an honest mistake) you are escorted out of the building.

Since we are all freely using the wifi in the building now that actually know within a few feet where anyone who scanned a ticket is now.

that could lead to some interesting stuff down the road. warnings like hey thats the 5th time you bought a beer..

Unfortunately they’d be snapping off breaking them or if stronger they would be injuring people jamming into legs or hips, heading down the row to your seat. If recessed further between the seats ahead of you, would require enough room between the seats, making people reach across the aisle to the seat in front of them would cause spills on those people and impede movement down the row with people reaching back and forth across the walking space for their cupholder.

How do cupholders work at other stadiums then? citi field they are not between the seats they hang off to the back. I dont recall a ton of leg room in my seats there either. Probably we have way way less?
From what I read the norm is about 33 inches, However thats measured.. the Dome has maybe 20?
