Buddy didn’t start as a freshman at SU - he started just 5 games, only the first 2 games when Frank Howard was out with an ankle injury and the last 3 when Tyus Battle couldn’t play because of a hip injury in the 2 conference tournament games and then when Frank Howard was suspended against Baylor in the NCAA tournament. Buddy averaged just 17 minutes/game his freshman year.

What isn’t even displayed are the teams who are losing experienced players who used up their eligibility or entering the draft and need to be replaced. Some like Duke will be replacing graduated players with freshman, others like UNC will still need to replace Bacot, Ryan, Ingram (NBA) etc but who aren’t included in the portal ins and out numbers. Yup, Louisville lost their entire team unless there’s a walk on who entered the portal.
