Notre Dame became the unanimous No. 1 in the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll two weeks ago. Since then, they’ve beaten North Carolina and Virginia to complete an undefeated run through the ACC. Can anyone challenge the Irish?

That’s a question that will be decided in May with the ACC and NCAA Tournaments.

Johns Hopkins is No. 2 followed by Syracuse, then Denver and Virginia. Duke fell to No. 6 after a loss to North Carolina in which the Heels came out with much more energy.

Princeton jumped up a spot, and with its win over Yale caused them to drop to 13.

But at this point in the year, the Media Poll is just for discussion. The RPI matters —and the ability to win a conference tournament. Those all start in earnest this week and will determine the AQs to the NCAAs.

#HHH (11-4) owns RPI Top #5 Wins over Johns Hopkins and Duke. RPI Top #6-10 Wins against Virginia and Top #11-20 Wins over Colgate. They have no ‘outside the Top-20 losses. Orange should host an NCAA playoff game.

After 15 games, SU has seven players with plus 25 points. Joey Spallina (29,47), Owen Hiltz (33,21), Christian Mule (25,17), Michael Leo (23,9), Finn Thomson (21,11), Jake Stevens (13,15) and Sam English (19,6). FOGO Mason Kohn is (6,7) and defender Billy Dwan III plays has seven goals. Defense letting up 10.3 goals per game, a number that’s down from 12.1 a year ago when they were torched by ACC competition.

SU enjoyed the tranquility of an off weekend. Up next: ACC tournament in Charlotte on May 3 and 5. SU plays Duke on Friday. Anish Shroff and Matt Ward will be in the Queen City for all the ACC Network television action. Charlotte North and Drew Carter will be handling halftime and between game segments.

Legit question: who is Patrick Stevens? What’s his background?

He used to cover Hoops and LAX for the Post-Standard in Syracuse before they downsized and got rid of a lot of people.

He currently does Hoops and LAX in the DMV. Writes for the Washington Post and USALacrosse Magazine.

I believe he's a free-lance writer/reporter who now covers college basketball for The Washington Post and college lacrosse for USA Lacrosse Magazine. I believe he reported and wrote on both for the Post-Standard for only one year, but it may have been 2 years, about ten years or so ago. For many years he has done college basketball and lacrosse bracketology, predicting selections and seedings for the respective NCAA Tournaments. I recall that the year, or one of the years, he wrote for the P-S he was the bracketologist who most correctly predicted the teams snd seedings in March Madness. This year he was the only one who correctly predicted all 68 teams out of 226 bracketologists included on bracketmatrix.com. During the college basketball season he attends and reports on games in the DMV area and is prolific on Twitter/X. I believe he lives in Baltimore or one of its suburbs. He has been a guest on Brent Axe's podcast as he was this year near the end of the college basketball season.
